ArtVo is an immersive art gallery or 'trick art' gallery. The ArtVo immersive gallery experience at The District, Docklands Melbourne is the first of its kind in Australia. What makes this gallery different, is that unlike traditional art galleries, visitors are encouraged to interact with the artworks, touch them and take photos of themselves as part of the art.
The murals at ArtVo are painted to take on a 3D appearance. Once you add someone to the art, it appears even more multi-dimensional, as if the person belongs in the artwork. ArtVo immersive gallery in Melbourne has 11 themed zones with wildly different and extremely creative artworks. It’s a unique place to explore and have fun creating memories.
At the Melbourne ArtVo immersive gallery, you’re the star of the show. You can look on as others step into the different artworks to become characters in imaginary dramas, but it’s more fun to be in it!
This self-guided gallery takes you on a visual journey from the forest to the ocean, polar ice caps, and even outer space, or step into one of the many fantasy scenes for a little fun, excitement, or romance.
Take a ride on rapids or a peaceful paddle on a gondola. Visit famous landmarks and meet larger-than-life characters. Climb bamboo with a panda, grow a set of wings, ride a dolphin, or let a whale breach right over your head! You don’t need any imagination at ArtVo, it’s all there in front of you, just step in and play.
At ArtVo, you can have some wild adventures in complete safety and comfort, but beware, your cheeks may hurt from laughing.

At ArtVo Melbourne, you can you ride a swan or a jet ski, stand in the jaws of a crocodile or escape the jaws of a hippo, fend off a dragon, grab Thor’s hammer, catch a wave, or gaze into the eyes of a massive gorilla, all under one roof, and without breaking a sweat!
With its 3D installations and trick art, ArtVo is a place to experience art in a fascinating and fun new way. Stretching over 1400 square metres, the gallery first opened at The District, Docklands in 2016 and has been a favourite place for locals and visitors to Melbourne to enjoy an hour or so out of the ordinary.
Involving 15 artists, 1000 litres of paint, 800 hours and over 80 artworks, the gallery is suitable for all ages. The different zones offer opportunities to create spectacular illusions against the backdrop of wonderfully realistic murals.
ArtVo illusions immersive gallery experience is located on Level One at 26 Star Crescent, The District, Docklands, just five minutes from Melbourne’s CBD.
The team at ArtVo recommends allowing an hour for the experience. Of course, you can take longer if you want to immerse yourself in more artworks.
It’s as easy as striking a pose in front of the mural you want to be in. Friendly staff are there to advise you on the best poses to achieve the most realistic shots. Once you get the hang of it, you can experiment with different poses for some really creative shots. There are no ‘rule books’ for photos at ArtVo and your imagination is encouraged so dare to be different in your shots!
