Mount Beauty Alpine Village

A Small Town in the High Country

Surrounded by Majestic Peaks and Lush Valleys

Mount Beauty certainly lives up to its name. This quaint little alpine village is situated in Victoria’s High Country in the northeast of the state and is surrounded by natural beauty. The town sits at the southern end of the picturesque Kiewa Valley, along the Kiewa River, just 334 kilometres from Melbourne via Wangaratta

It’s a popular spot in the winter months and just as pretty in the warmer ones.

In the heart of the Alpine National Park, Mount Beauty sits at the foot of Victoria’s highest mountain, Mount Bogong. The area features lakes, forests and snowfields with amazing views and scenic lookouts around every corner.

A Popular Spot All Year Round

Mount Beauty was established in the 1940s to serve as a base for workers on the Kiewa Hydro-Electric Scheme. Today, it’s a thriving tourist town, just a short drive from the popular Falls Creek Ski Resort and the alpine destinations of Mount Hotham and Mount Buffalo.

Mount Beauty holidays aren’t just for the winter months. In summer, it’s one of Australia’s leading mountain biking destinations attracting adventure-seekers from across the globe. For those wanting to take life at a slower pace, Mount Beauty has many lovely walking tracks that meander along the Kiewa River and Mount Beauty Pondage, a recreational facility for water sports.

Want to take things at an even more relaxed pace? Stroll through town visiting the interesting shops and the Mount Beauty Museum or enjoy a cuppa in one of the beautiful parks. Take a scenic drive to the local farms, wineries and breweries dotted along the fertile Kiewa Valley.
