Departing Townsville we head for the coast breaking at Ayr. From here we continue south, arriving in Airlie Beach for lunch and free time. We then board Cruise Whitsunday's vessel for transfers to Hamilton Island, one of 74 tropical islands that make up the Whitsundays.
Set out on an exhilarating jet boat adventure through the Whitsundays, a perfectly paced half-day morning escape that blends scenery and sea time in one unforgettable outing. Soak up the spectacular views from Hill Inlet Lookout, then slip into the crystal-clear waters at Chalkies Beach for a 45-minute snorkelling session across vibrant fringing reefs teeming with colourful marine life, with a light morning tea served along the way. Back on Hamilton Island by late morning, the afternoon is yours to unwind or explore the island at your own pace. Please note: Jet Boat tour is not suitable for passengers with back or neck injury as the semi rigid inflatable vessels are superfast offering a fun, adventurous ride. Wetsuits are provided.

We catch the morning boat transfer back to the mainland where we re-join our 'Diamond Class' coach and begin our journey south, stopping at The Leap for lunch. We make our way to Parkhurst for our overnight stop.
This morning we explore the unique Capricorn Caves on a 1-hour underground tour of the Cathedral Cave. Follow your experienced guide into the brightly lit limestone cavern that contains rare ferns, massive tree roots, and some small bats. We then make our way to the coastal town of Gladstone for our overnight stay.
Days 7 & 8
We're transferred to Gladstone Marina to board the fast cat to beautiful Heron Island. Set within the World Heritage listed Great Barrier Reef, this unique coral cay is a haven for nature lovers, fringed by pristine beaches and brilliant blue waters. With the reef and lagoon right on the island's doorstep, Heron offers that rare opportunity to feel truly immersed in the natural environment. Enjoy two nights at Heron Island Resort, where we join naturalist eco guides for daily experiences to discover the island's remarkable birdlife, take a guided reef walk across coral cay formations, and learn about native flora and fauna in this pristine island sanctuary.
Fast cat transfers take 2 hours and are in open waters. For those who suffer motion sickness we strongly advise you take the necessary precautions.
Take advantage of the morning and one last lunch on the island before we bid beautiful Heron Island goodbye and depart on the fast cat back to the mainland. From Gladstone we travel south arriving at the lovely coastal town of Agnes Water.
Homeward bound this morning, we break at historic Childers for a cuppa and time to visit the Palace Backpackers Memorial. After lunch in Gympie, we arrive back to the Brisbane Coach Terminal late afternoon.

Heron Island is a National Marine Park situated in the southern end of the Great Barrier Reef. This area is a significant nesting location for two threatened sea turtle species, the Green Turtle and the Loggerhead Turtle. Our tour to Heron Island is in the height of baby Green and Loggerhead Turtle hatching season. During hatching season, turtle hatchlings will erupt from their nests between 25 to 50 metres from shore and make their way to the reef, just beyond the water’s edge. Heron Island is a true coral cay and is ribboned by white sands, crystal clear waters and acres of coral with beautifully coloured marine life. The emphasis is on enjoying natural beauty. Stress is replaced by adventure, and your days are filled with discovery
