Our flights arrive into Cairns where we board our local tour operator coach and travel north along the spectacular Captain Cook Highway to Port Douglas. Settle into our resort and enjoy the remainder of the afternoon at leisure before gathering for our welcome dinner.
This morning we visit the Mossman Gorge Cultural Centre and join local Indigenous guides for the Ngadiku Dreamtime Walk. Discover traditional plant use, cultural stories and connection to Country before enjoying bush tea and damper. We then explore the waterways of the ancient Daintree on a guided Daintree River cruise, watching for crocodiles, colourful birdlife and other wildlife before continuing deeper into the rainforest.
Explore Cape Tribulation, where two World Heritage-listed natural wonders meet – the ancient Daintree Rainforest and Great Barrier Reef. Our adventure continues along the legendary Bloomfield Track, travelling through rugged rainforest country with steep climbs and creek crossings. Passing near Wujal Wujal, we stop for lunch at the iconic Lion's Den Hotel before continuing to historic Cooktown. This afternoon enjoy a town tour including spectacular Grassy Hill lookout and the Radar Station.
Begin the day discovering Cooktown's history with visits to the Botanic Gardens, Cooktown Cemetery and Cooktown Museum. We then travel to Laura for one of Cape York's cultural highlights, a guided visit to the Quinkan Split Rock Art Galleries. Discover remarkable ancient rock art and stories before continuing north to historic Musgrave Roadhouse, a former telegraph station on the Cape.
Journey north through the historic gold-mining town of Coen before stopping for lunch at the legendary Archer River Roadhouse. This afternoon we continue across the Cape to Weipa, overlooking the Gulf of Carpentaria and surrounded by the vast landscapes of Queensland's western Cape.
This morning we discover another side of Cape York on a Western Cape Eco Tour, exploring Weipa's waterways while learning about the region's unique environment, history, mining industry and local culture. We also visit the Western Cape Cultural Centre, showcasing the history and stories of Weipa and its surrounding communities, before continuing our journey to Bramwell.
Depart Bramwell and travel through remote Cape York country, passing towering termite mounds along the way. A highlight awaits at beautiful Fruit Bat Falls, where we pause beside the crystal-clear waters of Eliot Creek. Our journey then continues across the Jardine River by ferry before arriving in Bamaga, our base for the next two nights.
Today comes one of the great moments of our Cape York adventure as we journey to Pajinka, The Tip of Cape York, the northernmost point of mainland Australia. Walk across the rocky headland to the iconic Tip sign for that must-have photograph before visiting historic Somerset. We then return to Bamaga with time to relax after an unforgettable day at the very top of Australia.
This morning we farewell Cape York and cruise across the Endeavour Strait to Thursday Island in the Torres Strait. On arrival, join a local expert for a fascinating tour exploring the island's history, communities and distinctive Torres Strait character. Settle into our island accommodation with time to enjoy the surrounds.
**Travel Note: We recommend taking only a small overnight bag for the ferry journey. Your main luggage returns to Cairns with the coach.
Ferry across to Horn Island this morning for a guided journey into the island's remarkable wartime history. Explore the former WWII air base and visit the Torres Strait Heritage Museum before boarding our Qantas flight to Cairns. Take in spectacular aerial views as we fly south over the Great Barrier Reef.
