We depart from Brisbane Coach Terminal on our luxurious ‘Gold Class’ coach, ensuring responsible travel with 100% offset coach emissions. We head to Noosa to experience the pristine Everglades. Step aboard the eco cruise and glide through mirrored waterways, surrounded by ancient landscapes and abundant birdlife. This afternoon we arrive at River Heads and board our ferry to K’gari (Fraser Island), finishing the day with a sundowner while soaking in the evening hues of the sunset.
Today we explore K’gari’s striking landscapes — rainforests, eucalypt woodlands, mangroves, sand dunes and coastal heaths. Our guided tour shares the stories of the tribes who called this paradise home for over 5,000 years, as we journey off-road across the world’s largest sand island. Highlights include the crystal-clear waters of Eli Creek, the historic Maheno Shipwreck, and towering Satinay trees. We stroll rainforest boardwalks rich with rare plant life, take in sheltered bays and sweeping vistas, and pause to soak in the island’s beauty. A visit to picturesque Lake McKenzie offers time for a swim in its sapphire waters framed by pure white sands, before we return to our accommodation late afternoon.
**4WD tour is not suitable for passengers with back and/or neck injury due to certain parts of the track being rugged and jerky.
Today is a travel day as we bid farewell to K’gari and rejoin our ‘Gold Class’ coach for the journey north. We travel via Childers, enjoy lunch in Miriam Vale, and continue on to Parkhurst, arriving late afternoon to settle in for the evening.
We set sail this morning, bound for the pristine shores of Great Keppel Island. On arrival, your bags are whisked away to Great Keppel Island Hideaway, leaving you free to step straight into island time. Glide over coral gardens on a glass-bottom boat cruise, enjoy a relaxed lunch by the water, and later stretch your legs on a guided bushwalk.
This morning we board our transfer and wave farewell to the turquoise waters of Great Keppel Island, returning to the mainland at Keppel Bay Marina. Back on the coach, we journey westward into Queensland’s heartland, pausing at Duaringa. A relaxed picnic lunch awaits at Rolleston Park before we continue our scenic drive through ever-changing landscapes. By late afternoon we arrive at the spectacular Carnarvon Gorge Wilderness Lodge where we check in to unique timber and canvas Safari Cabins that ooze outback charm and blend unobtrusively into the natural bushland of this hidden oasis. This evening we gather by the fireplace in the lodge for pre-dinner drinks (own expense) and dinner.
Today offers a choice of guided walking tours, tailored to different fitness levels, both completely optional. Begin with an easy early-morning stroll near the lodge, where expert nature guides introduce the diverse flora and fauna that call this national park home. For those seeking more adventure, a mid-morning nature trail with our guides leads to the enchanting Moss Garden, where sandstone walls drip with fresh water, nourishing a lush carpet of mosses, ferns, and liverworts. Beneath towering tree ferns, a waterfall tumbles into a cool, crystal pool. Along the way, we pause to enjoy a picnic lunch surrounded by the beauty of the wilderness. Guests preferring a gentler pace may choose to relax and soak up the lodge’s tranquil setting.
**The Moss Garden walk is an approximate 3 hour walk with a lunch break and is suited to those with a higher physical rating.
Savour a slower start today with a hearty breakfast in the lodge and a chance to soak in the tranquillity of the wilderness before journeying towards Roma, pausing for lunch in the charming country town of Injune. By afternoon, we arrive in Roma to explore the iconic Big Rig, where the stories of Australia’s pioneering oil and gas industry come to life, before settling into our comfortable accommodation for the evening.
Today we make our way back to Brisbane, breaking at Toowoomba for lunch with a view. We arrive back to the Brisbane Coach Terminal late afternoon.
