Our Green Getaway is our once-a-year, FOFH-subsidised philanthropic escape, a feel-good short break designed to give back to community and environment in meaningful, practical ways. From supporting Taribelang Traditional Owners with Milbi Nestbank management for the white-throated snapping turtle, to hands-on immersion and a coral fragging class at Monsoon Aquatics, every moment is purposeful. We round out the journey at Kingaroy Kitchen (Endeavour Foundation social enterprise) with the co-creation of our FOFH Corporate Fruit Cake, an ongoing purchase that supports inclusive employment pathways. Small group, big impact, and the best kind of holiday feeling.

Departing Brisbane Coach Terminal aboard our luxury ‘Gold Class’ coach, we make our way up the Bruce Highway with a comfort stop at the northbound BP. Enjoy a sneak peek of Tin Can Bay with time for a cuppa, before taking the scenic route via Poona to Maryborough for lunch. This afternoon, a local step-on coach guide joins us for an entertaining heritage tour, bringing Maryborough’s grand buildings and colourful “trading town” tales to life. We then continue to Mon Repos, Bargara, checking in to Turtle Sands for our two-night stay.
This morning, we visit Monsoon Aquatics for a guided tour and hands-on Coral Fragging session. Learn how coral fragments are carefully grown into new colonies to support reef restoration, and we’ll make an official donation to contribute directly to this important work. After a relaxed beachside lunch, our afternoon is spent on Country with Taribelang Traditional Owners, contributing to the Milbi research project “Nestbank Management for Resilience and Recovery of the White-throated Snapping Turtle.” We learn how nesting areas are monitored and protected, including predation prevention measures such as installing nesting cages and, where required, protective fencing to improve hatchling survival. You’ll also hear how cultural knowledge and environmental indicators guide the timing of nesting season, including a visit to the significant Black Bean tree. This is meaningful, practical support for the critically endangered Milbi, a Taribelang Bunda totem found only in the Burnett, Mary and Fitzroy Rivers.
Farewelling Mon Repos, we pause for a final photo at The Hummock Lookout, soaking up those sweeping coastal views. We then travel inland to Biggenden for a cuppa and leg stretch before arriving at Kingaroy Kitchen (an Endeavour Foundation social enterprise) for lunch. Today is a special moment, the official launch and taste test of our very first Fun Over 50 Holidays Corporate Fruit Cake. Go behind the scenes to see the kitchen in action, meet the team at work, and be part of the co-creation process as our fruit cake is brought to life. This ongoing “buy-to-give-back” initiative means future purchases continue to support inclusive employment pathways. After the celebrations, enjoy time to browse the produce shop for a few local goodies to take home, before we continue via the scenic route through Crows Nest to Toowoomba, where we settle in for our overnight.
This morning, we enjoy a guided tour of Toowoomba’s Queensland Museum Cobb+Co, home to the acclaimed National Carriage Collection. Our guide brings the Cobb & Co era to life as we explore beautifully preserved horse-drawn vehicles and hear stories of early travel, settlement and heritage craftsmanship. We then enjoy morning tea, with free time to browse the museum at leisure before departure. Reboarding our coach, we travel back toward Brisbane to Summer Land Camels for lunch and a guided tour of Australia’s largest wild camel training centre and dairy operation. Meet and feed the gentle camels, tour the farm, learn about the immune health benefits of camel milk, and enjoy tastings of award-winning camel milk, gelato and cheeses, plus a look at their skincare range. We then continue on, concluding our Green Getaway at the Brisbane Coach Terminal late afternoon.
