

Chinchilla is the “Melon Capital” of the world, and every second year in February the town throws one of the craziest and most fun festivals ever. This 4 day escorted Gold Class tour travels from Brisbane to Toowoomba for a self guided visit to Queensland Museum Cobb and Co and lunch at Picnic Point, then on to Chinchilla for a three night stay. Enjoy a locally guided town tour including the Folk Museum and a local melon farm, plus the Cactoblastis Monument and a real outback rodeo. Then it is festival day, packed with events, markets, a street parade, free concerts and fireworks, before returning via Kingaroy’s Peanut Van, Kingaroy Heritage Museum and lunch at Moffatdale Ridge Winery.

Departing Brisbane Coach Terminal aboard our luxury 'Gold Class' coach, relax as we journey through the Lockyer Valley and climb the Great Dividing Range to Toowoomba. We take a self-guided tour of the Queensland Museum Cobb & Co before breaking for lunch at Picnic Point. Our afternoon travels take us via country towns such as Oakey and Dalby before arriving at Australia's melon capital, Chinchilla.
Today, take a tour of Chinchilla with a local guide, visiting the Folk Museum and a local melon farm. As Chinchilla produces 25% of Australian melons, we learn from the best how to grow the tastiest melons. We also visit the Cactoblastis Monument, which details the destruction of the prickly pear by the Cactoblastis Moth. Tonight, experience the excitement of a real outback rodeo, featuring bull rides, saddle bronc rides and the ever-popular barrel racing.

Get ready for a day of laughter and excitement at the Chinchilla Melon Festival. Join the locals for some hilarious fun and festivities such as melon skiing, melon iron man, melon bungee, melon bullseye, pip spitting and melon tossing events. The festival features non-stop entertainment, markets, a street parade, arts and crafts, free concerts, a triathlon, and loads more. Enjoy an afternoon of country music and the grand finale being a brilliant fireworks display. This morning we make our way past the Bunya Mountains and into Kingaroy. Our first stop is the famous Peanut Van giving you time to purchase your favourite blend. From here we explore the fascinating history of Kingaroy at the Kingaroy Heritage Museum. We continue on to Moffatdale Ridge Winery for our final lunch together, a great way to unwind after a fun-filled getaway. We travel via Lake Wivenhoe before arriving back to the Brisbane Coach Terminal late afternoon.

Our coach tours have a baggage restriction of 17kg per person (regardless of flight and rail allowances) due to our Occupational Health & Safety standards. You can also bring one small, soft carry-on bag not exceeding 30cm wide, 30cm high, and 15cm thick that may be stowed in the overhead compartment.

Our Gold Class coaches have a seat capacity of between 44 and 46, but we cap Gold Class tours at 40 guests per tour. Our Diamond Class tours have a capacity of just 26 guests.
