This morning embark on a scenic drive through picturesque landscapes and charming rural towns. We’ll arrive at Sovereign Hill, a living museum nestled in the heart of Victoria’s goldfields. Step off the coach and enter a meticulously reconstructed town that authentically recreates the vibrant atmosphere of the gold rush era. We bid farewell to Sovereign Hill and make our way into the Grampians where we immerse ourselves in nature.
*Lunch is at your own expense today.
Leaving Halls Gap we’ll journey through the picturesque landscapes of the Grampians region and the unique artistry of the Silo Trail. Witness aweinspiring works of art as towering grain silos are transformed into massive, vibrant murals by talented artists. Begin by visiting Rupanyup discovering murals depicting firefighters, then see the indigenous Sheep Hills Silo, and at Brim artwork depicting farmers. Moving on to Rosebery discover the silo art that embodies the region’s past, present and future. Our afternoon takes us via Lascelles and Sea Lake where we leave the art trail and make our way to Mildura.
Today we join a local guide and take a giant leap back in time and enjoy a day exploring the remarkable natural location of Lake Mungo which sits within The Willandra Lakes World Heritage Area. The tour highlight is to walk upon the spectacular moon-like dunes known as ‘The Walls of China’, an ice-age lunette. We weave our way through the evidence of the people and animals who once lived in this landscape - rare beauty of geologically unique, highly eroded formations. Experience the deep spirituality of this richly cultural place.
Experience the golden hues of the Australian outback as you pass through vineyards and citrus orchards. Arriving at Yanga Homestead, we break before continuing our journey through picturesque farms and vineyards, showcasing the region’s fruitful agricultural industry. Upon arrival in Hay, we take time to see the water tower art, then break here for lunch. Our afternoon travels take us to Griffith, a town blending Italian heritage and Australian charm.
This morning, we visit the Griffith Tourism Hub’s interpretive display, then head to Piccolo Family Farm for a unique insight into sustainable farming. Explore vineyards, orchards, and gardens then enjoy a farm-totable lunch before a guided town tour of Griffith.
Leaving Griffith behind, we travel to Parkes, known for its connection to the famous Parkes Observatory, also known as ‘The Dish’. Explore the fascinating world of astronomy before we venture onwards to Dubbo, where an unforgettable wildlife experience awaits. Our overnight Zoofari experience at Taronga Western Plains Zoo offers an unforgettable adventure, immersing yourself in the wonders of the animal kingdom.
Awaken to the gentle calls of the animals and enjoy a delicious breakfast overlooking the zoo. Leaving Taronga Western Plains Zoo behind, you’ll traverse through the picturesque countryside, passing by rolling hills and charming farmland. Our first stop is at Dunedoo, a quaint town known for its rich agricultural heritage. Our travels take us on to Spring Ridge where we break for lunch before hitting the road bound for Tamworth, the country music capital of Australia. We take a quick stop at The Big Golden Guitar then continue on to Armidale, a charming town nestled in the New England High Country.
Leaving Armidale we travel north through Glen Innes and cross the border to Stanthorpe for lunch paired with wines at Ballandean Estate Wines. After lunch, we descend the Cunningham Range and arrive back to the Brisbane Coach Terminal late afternoon.
