Our carbon neutral flights arrive into Adelaide where we board our 100% carbon offset third-party coach and travel to Hahndorf for a wander and afternoon tea in the main street (flight times permitting). In Murray Bridge we receive a warm welcome as we board the Proud Mary, then enjoy dinner as we cruise towards our overnight mooring at Woodlane.
We continue upstream over breakfast before a mid-morning arrival in picturesque Mannum, the birthplace of the river boat trade. On a guided coach tour, we discover this historic town and visit Mannum Lookout. Back onboard, lunch is served whilst cruising upstream to Walker Flat for the night. This evening is ‘Australiana Night’ featuring typically Australian dishes. Later, we take a guided Nocturnal Discovery Tour, for an insight into abundant local wildlife including the Southern Hairy Nosed Wombat. It is a perfect opportunity to view the nocturnal animals in their natural habitat.
After breakfast we depart Walker Flat and cruise further upstream as the Proud Mary Captain delivers an informative talk on the majestic Murray River. Lunch is served on board, before we pass through Lock 1 at Blanchetown. This evening, we moor overnight amongst the towering River Red Gums, enjoy a delicious dinner, before getting our competitive juices flowing with a night of trivia.
Departing from our tranquil overnight mooring, we enjoy a relaxed morning as we cruise toward Morgan, passing spectacular scenery and enjoying the serenity of the river. After lunch, board the coach to visit Waikerie, with its painted silos, Waikerie gliding club and Rainmoth Gallery. We re-board the Proud Mary for dinner onboard.
We cruise upstream over breakfast, then return to Morgan, historically one of the busiest South Australian Murray River ports. Boarding the coach, we visit the many heritage sights of this once booming riverside town including the Customs house and Courthouse that are located on Railway Terrace. We reboard for lunch then cruise through Lock 1 before securing at Sugar Shack. Enjoy a fantastic game of bingo this evening following dinner prepared by the Proud Mary’s resident chefs.
Merry Christmas! Join the captain for an early morning leisurely walk to learn about the history of the area and visit an authentic canoe tree. When back onboard we farewell Sugar Shack, pass picturesque scenery and secure at Swan Reach briefly before recommencing our voyage downstream towards Big Bend. Relax on board then enjoy a traditional Christmas lunch with all the trimmings. Keep a look out for Santa who may make a special appearance. Mid-afternoon, we take a guided tour aboard a small boat through the lagoons and inlets of Big Bend, then this evening, indulge in an onshore gourmet barbeque with live entertainment.
Cruising downstream, we pass some of the most spectacular scenery on the entire Murray River system taking in the imposing cliffs, incredible birdlife and river life before arriving at Mannum. There’s free time to explore the Mannum township then get ready for tonight’s formal Captain’s Dinner. Join the captain and crew for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres followed by a stunning five-course formal dinner.
Mid-morning finds us at Woodlane, where we board the waiting coach for a tour of Aussie Apricots and Revolution Motor Museum. This museum is home to many fascinating and historical cars including south Australia’s first registered taxi. After lunch onboard, the afternoon showcases the last of the Murray River’s unique and breathtaking scenery before arriving at Murray Bridge. Here, we bid the captain and crew of the Proud Mary farewell and transfer to Adelaide.
Our morning starts with a city tour of Adelaide, taking in North Terrace Cultural Boulevard, the Adelaide Oval and St Peter’s Cathedral. We then head to Mount Lofty Summit for an unforgettable view of the city and surrounds before making our way to Adelaide Airport for our carbon neutral flights home.

Our coach tours have a baggage restriction of 17kg per person (regardless of flight and rail allowances) due to our Occupational Health & Safety standards. You can also bring one small, soft carry-on bag not exceeding 30cm wide, 30cm high, and 15cm thick that may be stowed in the overhead compartment.

Our Gold Class coaches have a seat capacity of between 44 and 46, but we cap Gold Class tours at 40 guests per tour. Our Diamond Class tours have a capacity of just 26 guests.
