We board our luxury ‘Gold Class’ coach from the Brisbane Coach Terminal and travel responsibly knowing all coach emissions are 100% offset. Journey through the picturesque Tweed Valley and stop to enjoy Tropical Fruit World with morning tea and an informative Plantation tour by tractor train. We then continue to Opal Cove Resort.
Today we visit Coffs Coast Wildlife Sanctuary, a renowned marine park and rescue centre that offers the opportunity to engage with dolphins, seals and other marine life while learning about their conservation and rehabilitation efforts. We enjoy lunch before visiting the iconic Big Banana, taking a walk around the Banana Plantation before learning about the banana-growing process and how bananas are cultivated, harvested, and packed for distribution. We rest up for the afternoon before tonight’s outing to the Jetty Theatre where we have the best seats in the house for the Coffs Harbour Musical Comedy Company Show ‘We Will Rock You’. Based on the music of Queen, ‘We Will Rock You’ is set 300 years in the future in a futuristic and globally corporate world. A must see, thought provoking production, with great music and laughter throughout.
Before departing Coffs Harbour, we make a stop at The Clog Barn, a quirky and unique attraction showcasing Dutch heritage with its collection of wooden clogs and charming miniature village. After immersing ourselves in the cultural experience at The Clog Barn, we try our hand (or rather our feet) at Barefoot Bowls, to revel in the camaraderie, laughter and friendly competition. Next we continue into the picturesque town of Port Macquarie at our hotel before enjoying an afternoon at our leisure.
This morning, we head inland to wander the Wauchope Farmers’ Markets where growers, makers, bakers and creatives come together to share their wares. Next, we visit Timbertown, a recreated 19th-century village which provides a fascinating glimpse into the past, complete with steam-powered machinery, historical displays, and costumed guides sharing tales of yesteryear. Continuing our journey through time, we visit the Port Macquarie Museum, immersing ourselves in the rich history of the region, making it a day filled with diverse and enriching discoveries.
We say farewell to Port Macquarie, and begin our journey back to Brisbane, breaking into the coastal town of Arrawarra for a cuppa off the coach. We continue our journey through the Clarence Valley, reaching Maclean, self-proclaimed as ‘The Scottish Town of Australia’, where we pause for lunch. After lunch, we cross back into Queensland via scenic landscapes and arrive into the Brisbane Coach Terminal.
