We fly Carbon Neutral into Darwin Airport where we are met for the start of our Darwin to Katherine adventure. After check in, and time to refresh, we experience Mindil Beach Sunset markets in style, with front row seats taking in the sunset.
Today, we embark on an exploration of Tiwi Island, commencing with a ferry departure from Cullen Bay to Bathurst Island. Upon arrival, we will be greeted by a knowledgeable local guide who will lead us on an immersive journey through the Aboriginal community of Nguiu. Along this captivating tour, we will have the opportunity to wander through displays of traditional art, which vividly depict the rich tapestry of Tiwi ‘dreamtime’ stories. We will have the privilege of witnessing the Tiwi ladies in action, deftly weaving and skillfully painting their artistic creations. Additionally, we will visit the Early Mission Precinct, where a unique Tiwi-style Catholic Church stands, providing insights into the fusion of culture and religion on the island. Here, we will also learn about the rituals and significance of the Pukamani Poles, which serve as burial markers, deepening our understanding of Tiwi customs and traditions.
Today we explore the natural wonders of Litchfield National Park. Our day begins with awe-inspiring views of the Tabletop Range, a sandstone plateau graced by cascading waterfalls. Marvel at the remarkable termite mounds and discover the fascinating way these architectural wonders are constructed by armies of tiny insects. Next, we venture to the Florence Falls lookout, followed by a delightful lunch at Litchfield Café. In the afternoon, we find ourselves at the picturesque Wangi Falls, where year-round currents flow into a tranquil swimming hole. Take a refreshing dip before we return to Darwin.
Depart Darwin and enter the World Heritage-listed Kakadu National Park, a sprawling expanse spanning 4.2million acres, teeming with culture and wildlife. We begin with a visit to the renowned Cahills Crossing, followed by a lunch stop at Cooinda Lodge. Our afternoon unfolds with a serene cruise along the Yellow Water Billabong, guided by a knowledgeable local who will introduce us to the vibrant birdlife and elucidate the wetlands’ natural history. After the cruise, we traverse the Magela floodplains and pass by dramatic escarpments, arriving at the Aboriginal rock art site of Burrungkuy. Here, an indigenous guide will lead us through natural stone galleries, providing insight into the culture intertwined with these captivating artworks.
Take a birds eye view of the dramatic landscapes of Kakadu National Park from the air during a 30-minute scenic flight. We take off from Jabiru for a thrilling flight offering spectacular views of Kakadu National Park, soaring over natural wonders including The Archway, the Arnhem Land escarpments, East Alligator Valley, the Mikinj Valley Billabongs, and the Magela flood plains. We travel cross-country from Kakadu via the picturesque and refreshing Edith Falls, finishing our day at Katherine. Enjoy a warm welcome from The Jawoyn people on our arrival at the eco-friendly Cicada Lodge. At sunset we enjoy a ‘Nitmiluk Sunset’ drinks and canapes poolside before dining in the Cicada Lodge Restaurant.
This morning we witness an outback show that celebrates life on the land through real horse-starting and working dog demonstrations, live music and storytelling with Tom Curtain’s Katherine Outback Experience. From the comfort of elevated seating under the shade of an indoor arena, watch and learn as the young horses and working. Later in the afternoon, experience the magic of a sunset over the rugged landscapes of Nitmiluk National Park, set against the dramatic backdrop of the Katherine Gorge. We glide along the Katherine River on a 3.5-hour sunset cruise, enjoying a candlelight dinner, featuring fresh, local Australian produce cooked on board, with a glass of sparkling wine. Sit back and relax as the tranquil surroundings transport you into a spiritual world of the Jawoyn culture and history.
Departing Cicada Lodge, we head south toward the Adelaide River Wartime Cemetery, commemorating those who served during World War II. Next we stop for lunch at Litchfield Outback Resort. Arrive into Darwin to check-in to our hotel. Tonight, we enjoy a farewell dinner, feasting on the freshest of seafood whilst overlooking a harbour sunset at Cullen Bay.
Enjoy a leisurely start to the morning before taking transfers to Darwin Airport for our respective Carbon Neutral flights home.

Our coach tours have a baggage restriction of 17kg per person (regardless of flight and rail allowances) due to our Occupational Health & Safety standards. You can also bring one small, soft carry-on bag not exceeding 30cm wide, 30cm high, and 15cm thick that may be stowed in the overhead compartment.

Our Gold Class coaches have a seat capacity of between 44 and 46, but we cap Gold Class tours at 40 guests per tour. Our Diamond Class tours have a capacity of just 26 guests.
